The article deals with trends to quantify what is free based on the premise that what is not counted eventually no longer rely. Such a trend leads to develop new indicators of wealth or new assessment methods to «count the free». The article highlights the fact that the real challenge is of a moral nature. Thus to count the free invites to move the issue of evaluation from the field of technical instrumentation to the moral field.
