Camus’œuvre is marked by silence, which was originally that of his mother, almost aphasic and deaf. He searches for this silence in ecstatic experiences at the heart of the Mediterranean paradise but also in beings who do not have right to language. In L’Exil et le Royaume, he stages characters torn up by the painful contradictions which are also his: how to speak about silence ?
