Résister à l’inhumain La dynamique du sublime musical chez Herder

Opposing himself to Kant, Herder resisted the modern aesthetic of the sublime fiercely and warned against the psychological and existential dangers arising from it. Resisting the inhuman – that is, a mistaken understanding of the sublime – consisted in cultivating a balanced relationship between humanity and the natural world, and between humanity, universe, and transcendence.
