“Bibliothèque introuvable” does not publish scholarly critical editions, nor the great classics given pride of place in bookstores. Instead, the collection showcases the honorable representatives of the “back shelves”—the texts that have remained on the margins of literary history, yet whose interest and utility are undeniable. These are either works still in manuscript form (unknown or already listed but unpublished), works hitherto incomplete or scattered among booklets or journals, or titles long out of print in bookstores. In each case, the analysis offered is subtle, serving to highlight the value of the text.
