  • Abstract: The article focuses on the poetry of Russian writer Boris Poplavsky, who was one of the most important poets in Russian emigration and who, after leaving Russia with his parents during the Russian Civil War, settled in Paris and lived there until death in 1935. In particular, this article drives attention to the frequency, in Poplavsky’s poetry, of the metaphor of “island”, which mirrors in a deep metaphorical way the solitude of the poet.
