Abstract: Adonis’ poems are a testament to a poïesis that takes place in and through the body. All creation begins with awareness of the physical body. Here the poet creates a “style of being and existence,” a sacred act par excellence. Translating the sacred in Adonis’ poetry means continuing the poetic work of nature, transmitting that undulating and temperamental energy borne by words and language.
