- Abstract: The philosopher Claude Tresmontant (1925-1997), the author of many works about Biblical Hebrew and Septuagint Greek, was led to reconsider the foundations of the dominant exegesis of the Gospel. He maintains that the four Gospels are literal, word-for-word translations of earlier Hebrew documents, and insists that there must have been one or several Hebrew-Greek lexicons that the translators used.
