AB  - The thesis of Proustian hypertextuality, according to which the Recherche anticipates today’s hypertextual literature, is demonstrated through the Ruskinian hypotext, which goes beyond the intertext to become a hypertext through the process of Proust’s engagement with Ruskin. In its turn, this engagement leads to what is here called the Proustian biotext. Bergotte’s death can be seen as the quintessential example of the Proustian hypertext.
