AB  - In Martial two uses of dedicare suggest that the book is made sacred as a monumentum dedicated to Domitian, a censor who, however, is no stanger to humour. This is confirmed by epigram IX, 58, written for the dedication of a nymphaea, but that can be read as a teasing response by the poet to his imperial reader.
