AB  - Synthesising classical knowledge and biblical tradition, medieval encyclopaedism in the turn of twelfth century sought to vulgarise scientific notions while continuing to articulate an organic (divine) vision of the world. In this vein, Alexandre Neckam composed a vast synthesis, the De Naturis rerum. The encyclopaedist put forward an explanation of the world in which creatures and the senses associated with them came to illuminate and “prove” the divine project.
