AB  - The sensorial system and representation of memory put forward by Richard de Fournival in his treatise on love, the Bestiaire d’Amour, are inseparable from the cultural background of this author. He uses these models to underline the alienating and mortifying function of the senses in the experience of love. However, he envisages his own resurrection by the intervention of a lady, and finishes by overturning the value initially attributed to the senses in the experience of love.
