AB  - Focusing on the Œuvres of Hélisenne de Crenne, Amadis de Gaule and Arnalte et Lucenda by Herberay des Essarts, and ­L’Amant ressuscité de la mort ­d’amour (1558), this work studies a ­common tendency to multiply modalising expressions which present the utterance as assured, underlining the personalisation of writing habits and ­connecting the use of the process to its sources. It thus fulfils the function of an illusionary expressivity, while at the same time reflecting the spiritual atmosphere of French evangelism.
