AB  - Since the 1990s, sixteenth-century research has made ­considerable advances in the examination of a genre often neglected because it was ­considered suspect: the novel. Four types of approach are currently ­contributing to the exploration of both known and less well-known works: bibliographic, linguistic, literary, and critical editing. A survey of the most significant studies of the last twenty years provides us with an overview of the ­conceptual foundations and methods of each analytical perspective.
