AB  - In France, the historian of the book places material bibliography alongside the history of publishing, while, in Anglophone countries, it has been assimilated by literary criticism. This article analyses the disciplinary resistances which risk delaying a ­constructive exchange between literary history and criticism, bibliography, and book history. This study also presents a selective summary and, finally, an example of material bibliography.
