AB  - Inspired by the curiosity of Montaigne, who cites the Greek philosophers in his Essais, this article ­considers the role that Greek sources have in the writing of the Essais. The goal of the work is to examine the presence of minor Greek philosophers and illuminate ­Montaigne’s method, to know how Montaigne treats these philosophers, what is their interest for him, how are they cited, and why.
