AB  - This article studies the five editions of ­Marot’s translation of the epyllion by Musée on the unhappy love affair between Héro and Léandre, published in 1541. The ­comparison between editorial choices allows us to understand the issues at stake in the publication of a translation of a Greek poem around 1540. While non-authorised editions seem to want to ­connect the text with the sentimental fictions fashionable at the time, notably by accentuating the moral aspect, the poet shows his desire to let the text speak on its own.
