TY - ECHAP A1 - Jeay, Madeleine TI - Polyphonies textuelles - Écritures de la parodie T3 - Medieval civilization, n° 19 in Rencontres M1 - 155 DO - 10.15122/isbn.978-2-8124-6063-0.p.0359 SN - 978-2-8124-6063-0 SP - 359 EP - 385 AB - The difficulty of finding an agreement among critics on reliable criteria defining parody is particularly manifest with medieval literature which is based on rewriting, on play with tradition and conventions. From a poetic and narrative (Raoul de Houdenc’s Vengeance Raguidel and Adenet le Roi’s Cléomadès) corpus which is generally considered parodic, we will see that there is no unequivocal response to the issue of the parodic dimension of medieval texts.
