AB  - The difficulty of finding an agreement among critics on reliable criteria defining parody is particularly manifest with medieval literature which is based on rewriting, on play with tradition and conventions. From a poetic and narrative (Raoul de Houdenc’s Vengeance Raguidel and Adenet le Roi’s Cléomadès) corpus which is generally considered parodic, we will see that there is no unequivocal response to the issue of the parodic dimension of medieval texts.
