The first one focuses on Lancelot, who appears to be an arrogant and failing knight. The second part focuses on Gauvain, the chosen one who can break Rigomer’s bewitchments and free its prisoners. This text can be read as a satire of the Arthurian universe, seemingly unable to evolve, but also shows, in the second part of the quest, how it manages to restore its reputation and get back at the height of its fame. Thus, the quest to Rigomer concentrates on a secular definition of the chivalry and promotes its elementary values.
