AB  - This contribution compares Benjamin Constant’s Adolphe with the themes and structures typical of the sentimental novel of the time. Given the merging of the genre with the psychological novel and confessional novel, and also because of the incoherence of Adolphe’s inner life so characteristic of the novel, it moves away from the demands of traditional sentimental discourse.
