AB  - This article evokes the rapports of proximity and tension between theatre and poetry. The theatre of poetry results from a negotiation between the verticality of the poem and the horizontality of theatrical time. Infused with the culture of the Orient, Schehadé naturally writes a poet’s theatre which assumes a collective, innovative, and lyrical dimension. The antipoetic tendency dominating the French cultural landscape meant his plays were not performed for a long time. Today, this may be changing.
