Interrogating the rapports between Schehadé’s theatre and Surrealism, and studying the diverse elements of Surrealist dramaturgy, shows that they allow the liberation of the theatrical genre from the weight of convention, and the evaluation of the “poetry of theatre” encouraged by Cocteau. It is the way of dealing with the unusual, and its revelatory function, which connects Schehadé’s theatre with Surrealism.
