AB  - With a pre-Raphaelite esthetic, Gibran’s art is polymorphous, transnational, transgeneric, and transhistorical. The question of the body that is at the heart of Christianity—the Incarnation and Resurrection—is addressed with an esthetic nurtured by the transcendentalist ethic. Nudity becomes the issue in a relationship that connects the Orient and Occident. Gibran tries to overcome this by transcending the antagonisms that are in play, by taking the path of a spiritual eros to where it intersects with agapè and philia.
