AB  - Raoul Péret was president of the Chamber for six years with authority and panache, but his periods in cabinet were episodic and nondescript. His insinuations from the platform led to the fall of a minister and, by resigning, he brought about the collapse of the whole government. His centre-left position allowed him to preside during the National bloc and then under the Cartel which, in 1924, was forced to suspend secret voting out of fear of his re-election.
