TY - ECHAP A1 - Ramond, Catherine TI - Les « scènes » des Confessions (I-VI) - Pour une poétique du récit factuel T3 - The eighteenth century, n° 13 in Rencontres M1 - 111 DO - 10.15122/isbn.978-2-8124-3834-9.p.0177 SN - 978-2-8124-3834-9 SP - 177 EP - 191 AB - This study applies the notion of « scene », forged by narratology and based on fictional narrative, to the factual narrative of the Confessions. Although there are numerous and often striking scenes in the Confessions, there are also notable differences between these and scenes in novels. Rousseau limits the use of direct discourse and also privileges narrative commentary in his scenes, meaning they cannot have the autonomy of the theatrical type.
