This is truly surprising if one considers his reputation for being a Nordic, barbaric, and Germanic poet. Genoa is the Mediterranean city that the poet from Marradi loved the most. “Barche amorrate” is the title of one of his poems where the word amorrate comes from the Genoese dialect.
