Firstly, the Mediterranean languages that are considered are Greek and Latin—from the standpoint of the legacy of rhetoric: Plato, Aristotle, and Cicero have not only left us with logos, pathos, and ethos, but also inventio and elocutio. This is also a legacy that manifests itself in everyday vocabulary: l’agora, la propagande, and even les médias. But this heritage is being challenged by the influx of English words, particularly those related to new technologies.
