AB  - The exhaustive nature of nomenclature in dictionaries is one of the fundamental problems for meta-lexicography. Sometimes lexicographic works have huge gaps in them, particularly when it concerns highly particular lexical units like onomatopoeia. The aim of this article is to analyse the fate of onomatopoeia in both monolingual and bilingual contemporary dictionaries, and the specificities of their lexicographic description.
