AB  - Beginning with the statement that families break down in the work of Modiano, the aim of this contribution is to observe their fictional reconstruction by way of a mode of transport which occurs frequently in his novels, and in particular in La petite Bijou: the metro. It allows this novel’s protagonist to reconstitute symbolically the family map he is missing, and it lends tangible value to the figures cut up by its neon lights, that the light of day had condemned to the realm of the spectral.
