AB  - This article explores the œuvre of Modiano, in which the familial motif and its links with the autobiography of its author are constantly reassessed. Modiano’s real family functions as an anchor which allows the author to venture into a familial fiction in which the subject invents himself by turns. Between the dreamlike and the sordid, between the patronage of Nerval and that of Balzac, the family plays out for Modiano somewhere between reality and fiction.
