Two types of discourse in the Collection hippocratique teach us this : first, records of the ill and second, theoretical discourses which point to cases of mortal purgation. The former give reason to suspect accidental poisoning by medicine and the latter either present poisoning as a banal risk or « side-effect » or seek to challenge certain medical practices.
