AB  - This article focuses on the “wooden” description of Joan of Arc in the “Rosier des guerres” which was the reason, according to Ph. Contamine, for the loss of interest in her in the sixteenth century. Historical and literary analyses reveal that this presumed woodenness was the result of a change in historical discourse. French writers were being influenced by Italian humanism, resulting in the account of Joan of Arc in the “Rosier des guerres”.
