AB  - The manuscript tradition of the Montpellier Chronique urbaine, whose complexity was not taken into account by its nineteenth-century editors, has been the object of a renewed philological approach, carried out with the view of producing a TEI (Text Coding Initiative) edition of the text. The article reveals the choices made during the electronic tagging of the codices, and proposes, based on a case study, a more global reflection on the philological stakes of the digital editing of medieval texts.
