AB  - This article analyses the value given to the diplomatic act with regard to historiographic writing, using two Hispanic examples: the Historia Compostellana, a historical narrative about the episcopal seat of Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle and the Corpus Pelagianum, a historiographic compilation realised by or at the request of the Bishop of Oviedo. These texts reveal a different conception of the status and role of the archival document in historiographic writing.
