AB  - This article considers Mallarmé’s adaptation of G. W. Cox’s Mythology with particular reference to phrases deliberately omitted from the original and others added by Mallarmé, himself. This leads to a re-examination of Mallarmé’s belief in the “Tragedy of Nature” as well as the contentious nature of mythological metaphord.
