AB  - In line with his theoretical writings, Mallarmé ­constructed the ‘Sonnet en ­X’ like a crystal, like architecture, or like a book of magic spells. He used a variety of ‘­­constraints’ : a ­consonant anagram, letters in a mirror or echoes or paronamases… He engraved names – his in the middle – in accordance with the onomastic tradition. Thus, in this game between form and sense, the Sonnet en X is truly an allegory of itself which introduces the prismatic subdivision of the idea of the Coup de Dés.
