AB  - The connections between international law and the pacifist movement are complex and ambiguous. The aim of this article is to consider this relationship from the standpoint of the Great War’s historical relevance. Insofar as the Belgian internationalist legal theorists from the 1914-1918 period are particularly representative of this ambiguous relationship, they will be used to illustrate how the practice of international law does or does not imply its original pacific ambitions.
