AB  - This article explores the way in which the author of the Historiae sui temporis tried to wash away the humiliation imposed on his great work by writing his Vita, while distancing himself from the public sphere. The memoirs of Jacques-Auguste de Thou thus encompass a judiciary function and complicate the persona of the historian by conferring on him a more personal dimension through the use of poetry.
