AB  - This article discusses the influence of educational literature on the practices of education in families. The predilection of the educators for the observation favours the use of educational journals, for example the one written by René-Guillaume-Jean Prevost-Dassier between 1789 and 1807. This journal allows to analyse the reception of the writings of J. Locke and J.-J. Rousseau and the way they influenced the pedagogic education that this lawyer from Geneva gave to his two children.
