After having published an attempted translation in 1807, Foscolo pursued his translational practice in a fragmentary way. How can we explain the discontinuous and unfinished character of the book? And how can we explain the dissemination of these fragments in other works? What role has the at once idealised and diffracted image of the world described by the Greek text played in the arrangement of these fragments?
