Our study leads to the conclusion that Cioran is a “passively read reader” (“lecteur lu”). He censors his Romanian writings, especially those parts that translate his desire for exaltation and his tendency to emphasize his remarks and practise spontaneous writing, all of which were signs of vulnerability in the eyes of the writer who was to become a “craftsmen of the written word”.
