AB  - This paper analyses the censorial effects that can be attributed to a critical intention in the Histoire de ­l’Académie Royale des Sciences by Fontenelle. These effects which remain necessarily hypothetical can be identified more easily in the ­scientists’ “Éloges”. We also show how these censorial practices did have various forms that eventually came from institutional as well as from scientific or political grounds.
