AB  - This study explores the use of flash-back in the Lancelot en prose : the author invents new places, where the memory of fiction is adulterous and creative. Secondary narratives, in the Arthurian Prose Cycles, are linked to the diabolic figure of Merlin, and associated with a landscape full of abysses. The thematic and narrative abyss is amplified by the cyclic novels, including ­Lancelot’s prequels : the cyclic novelists rewrite their model to modify the past of the Arthurian fiction.
