Aspects of Weil’s thought are certainly gnostic: the acute sense of human existence as misery and fall; the conception of God as pure and absolutely transcendent Good; her critique of the omnipotent Old Testament God; and the leading role of knowledge in salvation. However, missing from her writings is the cosmic paranoia felt by the gnostic who withdrawals from the world. That’s the aspect she tried to modify.
