AB  - The comparison of three texts (Essays, Travel Journal, notes from the Roman censors of 1581) shows that Montaigne knew very well, not only the theologian glossary, but also the hierarchical scale of Ars censoria. By accepting in advance, from 1582 on, all censorship relative to eventual errors, he allows himself to be audacious. The reason he does not correct the term “fortune” is more for literay reasons than for religious ones.
