AB  - This article addresses questions about the aesthetics of parodic re-writings of the Passion and the Bible in general and their cultural implications in Christopher Moore’s novel. The use of humour as a critical tool, the choice of contemporary language to convey straightforward messages, the promotion of sacrificed characters whose voices have been ignored or muffled, are all aesthetic means for Moore to re-read the sacred text with critical eyes and manipulate it as profane literary material.
