AB  - This paper presents the work of an eighteenth-century unrecognized author, Lepeintre-Desroches, who published fifty years after Voltaire a sequel to Candide, Prosper, or Pessimism. It focuses more specifically on Chapter III of Volume III, entitled “New Utopia”, which relies on a reading of Rousseau and which builds upon the Rousseauist themes on the liberty of the individual and the requirements of social organization : how to reconcile individual liberty and political life, individual ethics and collective happiness ?
