AB  - Opposing himself to Kant, Herder resisted the modern aesthetic of the sublime fiercely and warned against the psychological and existential dangers arising from it. Resisting the inhuman – that is, a mistaken understanding of the sublime – consisted in cultivating a balanced relationship between humanity and the natural world, and between humanity, universe, and transcendence.
