Abstract: In 1614, in the first treatise of the passions to be written in the vernacular, Camus, relying on both classical and Christian traditions, conveys the idea that passions are in themselves “indifferent” and simply produce good or bad acts according to the decisions made by our free will, which is helped by the Love of God.
