Abstract: Which arguments dictate the “biography”, Signé Malraux, provided by Jean-François Lyotard? How do the “Fifteen propositions for a biography of Malraux” which accompany his essay illuminate the genesis of the book? Malraux’s œuvre obeys a signatory gesture, the so-called “autograph”, asking that the body of the author be called to live within its limits, demanding that life be challenged, even sacrificed, and then renamed under the only condition of what Malraux calls “creation”.
