- Abstract: This study, which suggests a parallel with the theories of Max Weber, with whom Lukács was very close at the time when he wrote The Theory of the Novel, aims to identify the central role of the metaphor of the world and the cosmos in the historical construction of this work from his younger years. This metaphor to a great extent commanded the aesthetic analysis of the young Lukács, providing the central characteristics of the epic, but also, a contrario, of the novel.
